A Day in the Life of an Administrator
By Royce Burns, May 24th 2021, 17:30 My name is Royce Burns and I am presenting you with a day in the life of an administrator. I like to start my day at ease, usually without an alarm clock. I begin work at Hope Health Community Center. That particular one of our three establishments I like the most due to its very unique and welcoming nature. You get to socialize with people from all parts of society. Usually, I arrive around a time at which breakfast has already been served. One can see how satisfied the people in the community center are; We take great care of them. As an administrator, my job is to ascertain that everything related to our organization is proceeding in an orderly fashion. I directly represent Hope Health Group and liaise between staff and visitors, patients or volunteers at all times. While a professional demeanor is crucial in the line of work I do, I realize that particularly at the community center, where one is required to develop ties with the visitors, the ability to impart a certain sense of casuality can come in handy. It is oftentimes what is required of staff and volunteers to develop a relationship of trust with visitors – visitors from all parts of society and with different types of personalities that one is required to adapt to.

That is also part of my role as an administrator. Just as my colleagues, I am very accepting and open-minded. I greet the patients with a smile, crack a joke or two, and sometimes even talk some nonsense. Once the ice has melted down a bit and visitors feel comfortable enough in the community center, beginning to see its many benefits, I forward them to the personnel responsible for the provision of the service(s) they require.
Other than that, my responsibilities as an administrator include the maintenance of Hope Health Group database, signing visitors and patients up for services, assigning staff to patients and visitors, keeping track of client needs, scheduling follow-ups and keeping management informed of all matters related to our organization. I am very happy to work with Hope Health Group. As Simon Sinek says: "So Goes the Culture, so Goes the Company", "So Goes the Leader, so Goes the Culture". |
Depression – You Are Not Alone
By Dr. Melanie M. Herzog, May 19th 2021, 21:00 Every day, more people find themselves in a state of depression. Daily activities now appear impossible to accomplish; activities that used to be fun and engaging now appear fade. Symptoms that go along with that are sleeplessness or excessive sleep, loss of weight, a lack of energy, issues with concentration, self-doubt, excessive guilt and for some even thoughts of death or suicide. Although feelings of sadness and grief are normal and usually last only few days tops, they can develop into serious mental illnesses. With depression, you are not alone. About 16.2 million adults in the United States have at least one major depressive episode each year. There are several types of depression, and each is professionally diagnosable by our Mental Health Staff. It is important to know that depression is the most common mental disorder, and it is well treatable. Psychologists with our Mental Health Department offer targeted therapy to patients, and together with our psychiatrists, they develop great treatment plans, including the admission of natural or chemical medication – next to therapy – where deemed necessary. This is being done in close liaison with our patients. If you believe you are affected by depression or if you know somebody you suspect to be affected by depression, do not hesitate to reach out to us and schedule an appointment. You are not alone! |
